SISTERHOOD SERIES CONVERSATIONS

This is a space where we take time to chat and reflect on topics and issues around dance, culture, music, and womanhood. It's a supportive space for enrolled students and discussions are guided by Dee Street teachers. The Sisterhood Series gives us the time and space to chat about the music and moves we love, explore ideas, share experiences and delve deeper into our values.

PAST TOPICS :

DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOT - The subliminal influence of lyrics in music.

BABY GOT BACK - Body positivity and inclusivity in dance.

CAN I KICK IT - Freedom of black expression vs white perception in dance.

DANCING WITH MYSELF - Defining sexiness in a world that tries to define it for you.

Dee Street acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation as the traditional owners of the land where we live, work, play and dance. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.
